Today is October 31 – Halloween. Every Halloween for the past several years Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell has aired his Ghost to Ghost program. This program was filled with callers telling their best ghost stories. It was always a fun show, but alas, no Art Bell tonight. According to the website, George Noory will host it. Yawn. This is disappointing because Ghost to Ghost was one of the few shows that Art would come back to host.

So, we are stuck with boring Noory who has really gotten on my nerves more and more since he took over the show. I first blogged about it in January of this year and my feelings haven’t changed much. I still can’t put my finger on why he bothers me. It’s a combination of his delivery, his arrogance at cutting guests off without so much as a thank you, and his inability to engage his guests or callers and sound like he’s truly interested in them. He sounds like he just goes through the motions no matter who he talks to. Plain and simple, he is boring and sounds insincere.

Having said all that, the one host I really like on C2C is George Knapp who does the Sunday show about once a month. He’s quick and really knows his stuff on UFOs. This is what we want – someone who is enthusiastic and has a sense of wonderment about what he hears. Sure some of the stuff is off the wall, but if you embrace it you can turn it into great radio. That was the genius of Art Bell.

So am I the only one totally annoyed by Noory? Which other programs have been ruined by a new host? Which other hosts have taken a turn for the worse?
